Trying this out!

Ok, so it's been awhile since I have been on this.  Im going to try this out again, even though I feel Im not good at the whole marketing on the internet.  Im still trying to see how to create this layout.  Any way I just got back from a trip to San Francisco for the first time and it was amazing.  I went with Jason my finance and we ate, drank and ran around the city.  Friday we worked out in the gym, but on Saturday Jason wanted to run Nob Hill!  Can you say crazy, I ran then had to walk, it was like an incline 15 on the treadmill.  Coming from florida we don't train for hills like that.  The best part was knowing their is a down hill, and it was only 60 out which is a lot better then the high 90s in florida.  Vacations are great, I tried to eat clean as much as I could but we had our pizza at night after long days of site seeing!  This picture is at Post Ranch Inn, which is breathtaking, we drove 3 hours just to have lunch hear!
I got back on it today, with 45 min on the eliptical and back to my clean diet. Im really into 1/2 cup of oatmeal, vanilla protein powder 20 grams, 5 walnuts and 1 banana for breakfast.  I bring this with me on the airplane to have for a back up meal.  What is your clean breakfast?

Holidays are around the corner!

As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach now is a good time to have a plan with your fitness and nutrition options.

If you are going out of town: Locate where the local gyms are and if you have family that works out make it a point to meet up. Usually this is a time of year you should maintain your weight, if you are trying to lose those last ten pounds you might become to frustrated, so just try and workout each day, and if you can't one day, don't beat yourself up.
Eating out: Look up certain restaurants in the area and look at their menu so you know what to order before you get their. Bring portable snacks with you on your trip, like nuts and fruit such as apples and bananas, so you don't go more then four hours with out eating.
Party time: Have a glass of red wine but sip water as well, or have a glass between drinks.
Christmas day: Make sure to eat breakfast and your snacks during the day, skipping will just make you over eat later and feel guilty. Pick the healthier options first on your plate then small portions of your mom's sweet potato casserole. For dessert try pumpkin pie for the healthiest option.

Good luck and remember to have fun and don't stress, just have a plan!

One of my favorite quotes...

"Believe each day you are closer to becoming the person you were meant to become.

Affirm yourself to be Fit, Beautiful, Positive.

Once you believe it....
...You will become it."

What is clean eating?

Clean eating is basically eating food that is from the ground or has a mother.
All fruits and Vegetables
Grains such as brown rice, oats, potatoes, whole wheat breads and pasta.
Eggs, chicken, turkey, fish, bison, lean red meat.(All sources the leaner the better for you)
Nuts raw almonds, walnuts cashews.

Eating these foods and combining them with clean herbs and spices make delicious meals.

For example here is a great meal plan for a woman! About 1300 to 1500 calories

Breakfast-1/2cup oatmeal, 1 egg, 1 egg white/chopped banana

Lunch-1 small sweet potato, 4-6oz chicken breast/ Spinach salad with cucumbers and tomatoes. Lemon juice, hummus mix for dressing

Dinner-4-6oz salmon, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 cup grilled vegetables(squash, mushrooms, etc.)

Snack options 1-3 per day depending on fitness goals
1 cup grapes,1 cup Greek yogurt
1 apple, 20 raw almonds
small spinach salad with 4oz of tuna
1 banana, 15 walnuts

The cleaner the foods the better for the body, so next time you are in the grocery store stay on the outside aisles where the clean foods are, that have no ingredients in them. There are a few items in the middle but read the lables. Organic is always best for meat and dairy so you can stay away from added hormones!

Check out http://www.eatcleandiet.com/ for more information on this topic and how it got started.

As a trainer this diet is a way of life and helps show off that lean body you have been working so hard to get in the gym. Besides how you look you will feel GREAT!
